STILL presents a world first: The AXL 15 iGo automates the loading and unloading of lorries
LogiMAT 2026
At LogiMAT 2026, STILL will present a true milestone in intralogistics: the first market-ready, series-produced solution for the autonomous loading and unloading of lorries – without the need for any stationary safety technology at the dock. With the AXL 15 iGo low lift pallet truck, the Hamburg-based intralogistics specialist is closing one of the last major gaps in warehouse automation: the handling of incoming and outgoing goods at the truck loading ramp.
Automation has reached the dock
The dock area is characterised by time pressure, staff shortages, night work and challenging operating conditions – ranging from high temperatures in summer to low temperatures in winter. In addition, challenges such as limited space, changing trailer geometries and stringent safety requirements must be overcome here. While many companies have long automated high-bay warehouses, conveyor technology and internal transport, the loading and unloading of lorries has hardly been considered suitable for industrial automation – until now. “With the AXL 15 iGo, we are closing a long-standing gap in intralogistics by making automated truck loading and unloading standardised and widely accessible for the first time,” explains Dr Florian Heydenreich, Managing Director Sales & Service at STILL. "Our solution makes the receipt and dispatch of goods more efficient, safer, more predictable and more reliable. Standardising loading and unloading processes creates reproducible workflows. This significantly increases process stability and transparency. At the same time, it is another important pillar of our strategy to offer scalable automation solutions for all areas of intralogistics.”
30 pallets in 35 minutes – autonomous, flexible, safe
The autonomous AXL 15 iGo low lift pallet truck has been specially developed for loading and unloading lorries. Two vehicles working together can autonomously load up to 30 EPAL pallets into a trailer in around 35 minutes. Thanks to innovative localisation and positioning logic combined with a new, holistic safety concept, the pallet truck can independently recognise the conditions inside the trailer and position the pallets accurately. Of particular interest to users is the fact that the AXL 15 iGo does not require an additional safety-at-the-gate concept involving stationary installations, such as scanners or reflectors, in the dock or trailer. This makes the solution highly flexible, quick to implement, and easy to use.
Smart technologies for safety and precision in confined spaces
To ensure safe handling and precise navigation, the AXL 15 iGo uses two different technologies. Outside the trailer, it employs modern 3D visual SLAM technology. Using sensors, it can reliably detect when a lorry moves away from the dock unexpectedly during the loading process, and will then automatically stop – both when entering the trailer and when returning to the warehouse. Once inside the trailer, the system automatically switches to LiDAR-based localisation, enabling centimetre-precise operation and maximum flexibility. LiDAR safety scanners, camera systems, and visual and acoustic warning signals ensure that people and obstacles are reliably detected and protected, even in the most confined spaces. Integrated 3D pallet recognition also enables the safe handling of slightly misaligned or poorly positioned pallets in fixed locations.
Suitable for use across multiple industries
The AXL 15 iGo is a particularly suitable solution for industries with high pallet turnover and standardised loading units, such as 3PL service providers, food and retail logistics companies, and manufacturers. With a load capacity of up to 1,500 kg and a speed of up to 2 m/s, the AXL 15 iGo meets industrial requirements. Scalable fleet integration can be achieved via the standard VDA 5050 interface and a fleet manager, as well as via open interfaces (API) to warehouse management systems.
World premiere at LogiMAT 2026 – available now!
STILL will present the AXL 15 iGo to the public for the first time at LogiMAT 2026. The vehicle will be available immediately afterwards. “Our customers want solutions that are readily available. That's why we deliberately opted for a realistic industrial launch," explains Dr Florian Heydenreich. “The AXL 15 iGo is not a concept study, but a market-ready solution for the autonomous loading and unloading of hard and soft wall trailers within clearly defined parameters.”
STILL will be exhibiting at LogiMAT 2026 in hall 10, stand B40 and B41.
