MMS Transport and truck control system

The transport/truck control system (TCS) controls the movement of the trucks in the warehouse taking various criteria into account. Criteria for optimisation are, for example, short travel distances, order priorities, job types, truck functions and shift models. The STILL MMS TCS also allows operating complex strategies such as multi-level internal transport with trailers.

Your Benefits

  • Voucherless handling of transport jobs and consistent documentation of the flow of material to guarantee seamless processes
  • Simple dialogues for the operator to allow fast job handling
  • Type-specific utilisation of trucks as well as active control of resources
  • Optimisation of routes and reduction of empty travelling and stop times
  • Registration and evaluation of tasks (auxiliary jobs of the operator) to permit user-based allocation of costs
  • Automatic adaptation to changed situations in the warehouse

Functions

Self-Learning Truck Control System

The self-learning truck control system (SCS) permanently records all travelling times of transports between source and destination, evaluates these times and uses the data collected to optimise future transports. If the processes and subsequently the travel routes in the warehouse change, the system adapts automatically to the new situation. The preference to optimise the system for short travel distances or for short travel time can be adjusted manually to allow “fine-tuning of the transport control”..

Takeover and provision of transport jobs

Transport jobs (movement of goods) are issued by the superior system (e.g. WMS; PPS) via different interfaces. In addition, the transport generator offers many means to enter transport jobs and tasks manually (using a stationary or mobile terminal). This is done on an entry mask (web surface) with a very intuitive design. The entries can be either made in the central control stand (stationary) e.g. for rush transports to supply material to production or to retrieve finished products from the production or by terminals on the trucks (mobile) as well as other mobile devices, e.g. to retrieve empties. Standard templates and individually adjustable entry fields allow fast generation of orders.

Operation with trailers and tugger trains

The STILL transport generator makes it easy to generate transport jobs for different stations. When generating transport jobs, the number of vacant and occupied trailers is continuously taken into account.

Transport dispatch

Despatch selects suitable carriers depending on the technical and organisational requirements to ensure optimum use of available resources at all times. The STILL MMS TCS considers the truck, the trailers and the characteristics of the loading aid to optimise the allocation of transport jobs to the trucks. On top of this, cyclic routes and shift models for the trucks are taken into account. For VNA warehouses, STILL MMS TCS optimises truck movements by double cycles, reducing the number of times the aisle is changed, type of transport and priority of the order.
