STILL aids storage increase with Gelert's extension at the Turnkey Site in Portmadoc

Having already supplied Gelert with a fleet of new STILL warehousing equipment, including racking and warehouse design, STILL recently returned to Wales and supplied additional racking along with two new MX-X man-up order pickers for Gelert’s extended warehouse.

Gelert’s products range from simple walking sticks, compasses and tents to personal hand-held GPRS Navigation systems for the serious adventurer. The company has been designing and supplying outdoor products for over 27 years and has equipped thousands of outdoor enthusiasts with the latest technical features, whilst staying true to its philosophy: each product must give maximum performance yet retain value for money.

Mr Tony Hall, Sales Director for STILL said, “Before Gelert built the new warehouse in 2003 they were working from one main distribution site which they had occupied for twenty years along with four smaller storage buildings up to twenty miles away. This obviously caused Gelert a few logistical headaches and they began looking for a new, dedicated site.”

STILL specified every aspect of the materials handling and supplied it to Gelert on a turnkey contract. Simon Carter, Logistics Director for Gelert said, “When we originally had this building built in 2003, STILL contacted us just in time to help with the planning and design layout. We worked in partnership with STILL using its expertise to arrange the racking, making optimum use of the size and shape of the building, thoughtfully removing any possible bottlenecks. STILL even specified the most suitable floor for us and had it fitted in conjunction with the induction guidance wire for the VNA trucks.”
