Specialising in men’s and women’s outerwear, underwear, nightwear and footwear, as well as mobility aids, Chums has recently equipped its Prescot based distribution centre with a fleet of five STILL forklift and warehouse trucks.
Mr Robbie Johnson, Warehouse Manager for Chums, said: “Over the past five years our business has grown in size tremendously and the new trucks have enabled us to ensure products are despatched in the minimum amount of time. In fact, our express delivery customers can now expect their goods delivered to their door in as little as two working days.”
The STILL fleet, comprising of three EK 12 order pickers, one FM 14 reach truck and an R 50-10 electric counterbalance forklift, were supplied direct from the manufacturer at STILL’s Northern Regional Sales Centre in Preston, Lancashire.
Because Chums offers such a vast range of sizes throughout its product range, the major factor in the materials handling operation is the order picking. Here, the STILL EK 12 order pickers come to the fore. “While there are many trucks in the STILL range that would have done the job, the EK 12 was the ideal choice,” said Mr Nik Wilson, Key Account Manager for STILL.
For high performance order picking up to 10.5 metres height, the EK 12 provides maximum driver comfort with individual layout options for the driver’s cab and a low-wear, energy saving drive concept for additional operating economies.
“Not only do the STILL trucks exceed our expectations, it’s good to know that we have service and support from one of the World’s largest manufacturers of materials handling equipment,” Mr Johnson said.
